Memorial Day Prayer - Opener

5/31/2016

Our Heavenly Father, we gather here as your people, made in your image, united in your Spirit.

On this Memorial Day, we gather here to reflect upon our blessings as a nation.

We thank you for those who have served in the armed services of our country; risking their lives for our liberty.

Thank you for those, our fellow veterans, who have served this Nation both in time of battle and in time of peace.

Father, we commend to your gracious care all the men and women of our armed forces at home and abroad. Be with them, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us; strengthen them; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be.

Father, we also ask that you watch over the leaders of our military, our elected leaders and all the men and women who make national policy; grant them your wisdom and guide them with your Spirit of peace.

Bless our Country, our State, our community and the church. May we be strengthened and uplifted by Your Spirit.

May your kingdom come, and your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven!

All praise be to you, in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

Amen
